Tajikistan accepts Russian halal certificates, eases market access

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan (MNTV) — Tajikistan has officially recognized halal certificates issued in Russia, granting certified producers direct access to the Tajik market without the need for additional local approval, Russian state news agency TASS reported.

The announcement, citing Russia’s quality assurance body Roskachestvo, said that Tajikistan’s Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification and Trade Inspection, known as Tajikstandart, has formally confirmed recognition of halal conformity certificates issued by Roskachestvo’s accredited halal certification body.

Under the decision, Russian manufacturers whose products have completed the established halal certification process will no longer be required to obtain additional certification in Tajikistan. Officials said the move is expected to simplify export procedures, reduce administrative barriers and cut financial and time costs for businesses entering the Tajik market.

Roskachestvo said the recognition opens new opportunities for Russian exporters operating in the Islamic-compliant product segment, where demand has been growing steadily in Tajikistan.

All halal certificates issued by Roskachestvo are entered into the Federal State Information System of Rosaccreditation, the agency said.

According to Roskachestvo, Russian halal certificates are also recognized in several countries in the Persian Gulf region, members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as Algeria and Pakistan.

Tajikistan is considered a key economic partner for Russia in Central Asia, with trade ties spanning food products, consumer goods and industrial supplies.
