Syria and Türkiye expand agricultural cooperation talks
Officials explore trade links, investment opportunities and joint projects to strengthen food production between two countries
DAMASCUS, Syria (MNTV) – Syrian and Turkish officials and business representatives have discussed expanding agricultural cooperation, trade exchanges and investment opportunities during talks held in Damascus.
The meeting brought together representatives from the Damascus and Damascus Countryside Agriculture Chamber and a Turkish parliamentary and business delegation to explore ways of developing joint initiatives in the agricultural sector.
Discussions focused on increasing agricultural production, exchanging expertise, supporting farmers and improving production methods in both countries.
Mohammad Janan, head of the agriculture chamber, said the talks included plans for field visits to potential joint projects aimed at strengthening agricultural output and economic cooperation.
He said Syria is seeking to expand export opportunities for its agricultural products while reducing production costs to improve the competitiveness of domestic goods in international markets.
Janan noted that Syrian agricultural products have a strong reputation abroad and expressed hope that continued sector development would help increase exports in the coming period.
Members of the Turkish delegation highlighted the potential for stronger cooperation in agriculture and food industries, saying the sectors could create new opportunities for trade and investment partnerships.
They added that Turkish companies are interested in expanding engagement with the Syrian market as economic relations between the two countries continue to develop.
The talks also addressed preparations for an upcoming food and agriculture exhibition in Syria, as well as measures to facilitate agricultural exports and improve trade flows through coordination between relevant authorities.
The meeting comes as Syria and Türkiye seek to strengthen private-sector cooperation and establish new avenues for economic partnership and investment.
