Sharjah launches ambitious media hub and studios
Emirate unveils “Shams” project to unify government media, boost creative economy, and attract international production talent
SHARJAH, UAE (MNTV) — Sharjah is set to transform its media landscape with the approval of a major initiative, the “Shams” project package, aimed at creating the region’s largest unified government media hub and state-of-the-art production studios.
The initiative is backed by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council.
It will consolidate key government media entities, including the Sharjah Media Council, Government Media Bureau, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and Shams Media City, into a single integrated hub.
“Shams Studios” will feature five advanced production studios ranging from 1,500 to 3,400 square meters, equipped with post-production facilities for editing, visual effects, and sound design.
The studios aim to attract international production companies while providing local talent with a professional platform to develop skills and expand their media presence.
The project also includes an integrated government media business complex, comprising four buildings to house media councils, bureaus, and companies operating within Shams, designed to enhance collaboration, innovation, and operational efficiency.
A new headquarters for the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority will offer modern technical infrastructure, strengthening the emirate’s capacity to deliver high-quality, diverse content aligned with its identity and cultural message.
Complementing the hub, the “Shams Creative Oasis” will host a 700-seat theater and facilities for cultural, artistic, and educational events, supporting Sharjah’s creative economy and community engagement initiatives.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi said the projects reflect Sharjah’s vision of building a globally competitive media sector based on innovation, partnerships, and advanced technologies.
