Russia unveils world’s first Islamic AI to support religious learning
Muslim scholars in Russia have developed and launched what they describe as the world’s first Islamic artificial intelligence (AI) system
MOSCOW (MNTV) — Muslim scholars in Russia have developed and launched what they describe as the world’s first Islamic artificial intelligence (AI) system to help believers and learners access accurate religious knowledge, project author Shamil Alyautdinov told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
Alyautdinov, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation (SAM RF) and Imam-Khatib of Moscow’s Memorial Mosque, said the Islamic Intelligent System (IIS) was created entirely by Russian Muslims and is already operational.
“The world’s first Islamic AI was developed by Muslims in the Russian Federation. It serves as an intelligent assistant capable of providing comprehensive answers to key questions about Islam, drawing on reliable theological sources,” he said.
The system is integrated into the official mobile app based on Alyautdinov’s publication The Quran: Translation of Meanings.
He said the IIS differs from conventional chatbots by analyzing Quranic texts, theological articles, and scholarly works to produce detailed answers with citations.
“This is a step toward a new format of Islamic education, making religious knowledge accessible to everyone,” he added.
The IIS feature is currently available in the iOS version of the app on the App Store.
