Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024 begins
An international halal market fair opened in the Russian city of Kazan, the provincial capital of Tatarstan.
More than 40,000 people are expected to attend the Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024, which runs until May 19.
It showcases 4,500 halal-standard products from global sources across a 5,000-square-meter area.
Rustam Minnikhanov, head of the Republic of Tatarstan and deputy chairman of the organizing committee, said the dynamic growth of the global halal market has offered varied opportunities.
He said there are 100 halal producers in Tatarstan alone.
The market fosters new trade ties, offering diverse goods from Russian regions and beyond.
Its organizers’, Kazan Forum, agenda encompasses trade, investments, Islamic finance, and various sectors’ development.
Activities include business discussions, Modest Fashion Day and a culinary competition.
The market attracts visitors from 80 countries and now ranks among the region’s top economic summits.
It was granted federal status by a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, placing it alongside Vladivostok and St. Petersburg economic forums.
