Philippines’ Bangsamoro Region economy grew 5% in 2025: Report
Health and social services posted fastest growth at 13.9%, followed by education at 12%
COTABATO CITY, Philippines (MNTV) — Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) recorded 5% economic growth in 2025, ranking sixth fastest among Philippine’s 18 regions, according to a report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The figure improved from the 3.4% growth posted in 2024.
PSA-BARMM Officer-in-Charge and Regional Director Akan Tula said the 5% growth reflects improving economic conditions and rising investor interest in the region.
“The five percent growth does not only speak to the ability and capability of our leadership in the region,” Tula said.
“Five percent is not just a figure. It also shows that investors are coming in and that the BARMM economy is growing,” he added.
Tula reported that health and social services posted the fastest growth at 13.9%, followed by education at 12%, and public administration and defense, including compulsory social security, at 9.6%.
Meanwhile, agriculture, forestry, and fishing expanded by 4.9%.
Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority Director Melanie Indar said Bangsamoro Ministries, Offices, and Agencies (BMOAs) must stay consistent and aligned with their mandates to effectively contribute to regional development.
She added that effective performance by each BMOA would help achieve sectoral targets and further strengthen the regional economy.
“We need to double or even triple our efforts so that we can further increase the value of this five percent growth,” Indar said.
