The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has urged local law enforcement to investigate the incident as a hate crime, praising the victims for their calm response.
The assailant, identified as Christopher Svochak, has a recent history of anti-Muslim harassment.
In October, he filmed himself burning a Quran after disrupting a Muslim student event at the University of Houston.
