Morocco and Egypt to launch joint artificial intelligence partnership
North African nations strengthen cooperation in digital transformation and emerging technologies
RABAT, Morocco (MNTV) — Morocco and Egypt are set to deepen collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) following high-level talks between Moroccan Minister of Digital Transition Amal El Fellah and Egyptian Minister of Communications Amr Talaat.
The two countries agreed to build a strategic regional partnership focused on emerging technologies, with AI at the center of their cooperation agenda.
The initiative seeks to advance digital transformation, boost innovation, and create sustainable opportunities for both nations, reported APA News.
Speaking during a video conference on August 26, Talaat commended Morocco’s progress in AI, describing the kingdom as a “regional model.” He noted that Moroccan achievements have improved administrative transparency, enhanced public services, and stimulated growth in the digital economy.
El Fellah highlighted Morocco’s strong digital momentum, crediting it to High Royal Directives, and reiterated the country’s readiness to share its expertise with Egypt. She emphasized the importance of exploring new areas of collaboration in a sector that continues to evolve rapidly.
The ministers also discussed Egypt’s proposal to establish an Arab Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, a regional initiative scheduled for review by the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League on September 1.
As part of their cooperation, Talaat invited El Fellah to attend the inaugural “Everything AI World” Summit and Exhibition, slated to take place in Egypt from February 10 to 12, 2026. The event will gather policymakers, academics, and industry leaders from across the Middle East and Africa.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustained coordination, underscoring the role of digital innovation in driving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for their populations.
