Maldives to host major hospitality trade expo as tourism sector expands
Exhibition will showcase global hospitality brands, culinary talent and tourism innovations as Maldives seeks to strengthen one of world's most tourism-dependent economies
MALÉ, Maldives (MNTV) — The Maldives will bring together international hospitality brands, resort operators, and leading chefs next month as it looks to strengthen its growing reputation as a culinary destination alongside its world-renowned luxury tourism industry.
The three-day Food & Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) 2026 exhibition, scheduled for Sept. 7-9, is expected to draw more than 100 exhibitors, buyers representing over 120 resorts and hotels, and thousands of hospitality professionals from the Maldives and abroad.
While best known globally for its white-sand beaches and overwater villas, the Maldives has increasingly invested in expanding the visitor experience through food, wellness and high-end hospitality.
Organizers say this year’s exhibition will showcase the latest innovations shaping the country’s tourism sector while creating opportunities for international suppliers and local businesses to forge new partnerships.
The event will feature products and services spanning food and beverages, commercial kitchen equipment, hospitality technology, hotel amenities, wellness products and housekeeping solutions, reflecting the evolving needs of one of the world’s most resort-intensive tourism markets.
A highlight of the exhibition will be the Global Culinary Challenge, the Maldives’ only national cooking competition endorsed by Worldchefs.
The contest will bring together some of the country’s top chefs alongside regional culinary professionals competing in live cooking and pastry events, providing a platform to showcase culinary talent and raise the profile of Maldivian gastronomy.
The exhibition will also host barista and mocktail championships, housekeeping and bed decoration competitions, and other professional contests designed to highlight skills across the hospitality industry.
With participation from global hospitality brands, suppliers and industry leaders, the exhibition is expected to serve as a meeting point for businesses exploring new products, emerging tourism trends and commercial partnerships in one of the world’s most tourism-dependent economies.
