Jordan grants first commercial drone license to local production company
Move marks regulatory milestone, expands drone use across key economic sectors
AMMAN, Jordan (MNTV) — Jordan has issued its first commercial drone operator license, granting approval to Al-Anasir Television Production Company, in a step that regulators say will strengthen oversight and open new opportunities in the growing drone sector.
The license was formally handed over by Captain Haitham Mastou, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners at the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), under the framework of Civil Aviation Law No. 41 of 2007 and its amendments.
The decision follows years of work to establish regulatory and legislative structures ensuring the safe integration of drones into Jordan’s aviation landscape.
Captain Mastou said the commission is committed to gradually expanding drone licenses in accordance with national laws and international aviation standards.
He underlined that qualified teams are in place to oversee licensing, monitoring, and inspections, noting that several other companies are in the process of completing their applications.
The General Manager of Al-Anasir Television Production Company welcomed the move, describing it as proof of Jordan’s legislative maturity and the government’s support for innovation.
He added that the license would allow the company to deliver advanced services in media, marketing, tourism, construction, and agriculture.
Drone applications in Jordan are expanding rapidly, covering security surveillance, infrastructure inspections, agricultural crop monitoring and pesticide spraying, mapping, parcel delivery, cleaning services, and professional photography for artistic and promotional purposes.
Officials noted that the sector holds significant potential for Jordan’s economy by creating investment opportunities, boosting employment, enhancing digital innovation, and increasing efficiency while reducing costs across industries.
