Israeli strikes kill Palestinians as Gaza death toll surpasses 74000
Israeli forces continue attacks despite US-backed ceasefire, with Gaza reporting thousands killed since truce began
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces have killed at least eight Palestinians in Gaza over three days, including an eight-year-old boy, as attacks continue despite a US-backed ceasefire that was supposed to halt the heaviest fighting.
According to Antiwar.com, Health Ministry reported that six Palestinians were killed and 38 wounded during a 48-hour period, followed by at least two additional deaths and 11 injuries over the next 24 hours.
The ministry said Israeli forces have killed 1,417 Palestinians and wounded 4,953 since the ceasefire agreement was signed in October 2025.
Among those killed was Mohammed Saif al-Din al-Shakhreeti, an eight-year-old Palestinian boy who was shot by Israeli forces while playing outside his family’s tent near Rafah in southern Gaza.
His funeral was held Sunday at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, according to the report.
Israeli attacks continued Sunday, including an airstrike on a car in Gaza City that killed a Palestinian. Video from the scene showed Palestinians attempting to extinguish the burning vehicle with dirt and water as the victim remained trapped inside.
The continuing attacks have made the US-backed ceasefire increasingly difficult to distinguish from an ongoing campaign of violence.
Palestinian authorities say Israeli forces have continued killing and wounding civilians even after the agreement formally ended the most intense phase of the war.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said the Palestinian death toll from Israel’s war has now reached at least 74,016, with more than 175,000 people wounded.
The figure records violent deaths reported by Gaza authorities and does not include the potentially large number of people who may have died indirectly from injuries, disease, hunger and the collapse of medical services.
The scale of the Palestinian death toll has therefore surpassed 74,000 after nearly three years of Israeli military operations, while the destruction of homes, hospitals and civilian infrastructure has left large parts of Gaza devastated.
Gaza’s Health Ministry maintains detailed fatality records that UN agencies and international organizations have regarded as trustworthy.
The latest killings have also highlighted the continuing gap between Washington’s diplomatic claims of pursuing a ceasefire and the reality faced by Palestinians on the ground.
The United States continues to provide political backing to Israel while Israeli forces maintain operations inside Gaza.
The ceasefire framework remains stalled over major unresolved issues, including Israeli military control of large parts of Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israeli forces will not withdraw until Hamas gives up its weapons, leaving Palestinians facing continued military strikes by Israel and uncertainty over reconstruction.
Meanwhile, Palestinian officials and rights advocates continue to warn that the ceasefire has failed to provide meaningful protection for civilians.
With Israeli forces still conducting lethal operations and Gaza’s humanitarian crisis unresolved, the truce has offered little relief to a population that has already endured an extraordinary level of death, displacement and destruction.
