Israeli strikes kill Palestinian in Gaza despite ceasefire
Drone attack, gunfire and residential demolitions deepen civilian suffering as Palestinian health officials report thousands killed since ceasefire began
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man and injured several other people in airstrikes and gunfire across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, in further reported violations of the ceasefire agreement that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025.
According to Anadolu Agency, a medical source said an Israeli drone strike targeted a gathering of civilians in the Al-Saftawi neighborhood, north of Gaza City, killing one Palestinian man and injuring others.
The source did not provide the precise number of wounded people or details about their medical conditions.
Earlier on Thursday, another medical source reported that a Palestinian was moderately injured when Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire toward tents sheltering displaced people at Halawa camp, east of Jabalia in northern Gaza.
The incident underscored the continuing danger facing civilians forced to live in temporary shelters after repeated displacement.
Israeli forces also carried out demolitions targeting blocks of evacuated residential buildings in areas where their troops were deployed. The reported demolitions included Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, areas east of Gaza City and Rafah in the south.
Palestinians told Anadolu that they heard powerful explosions overnight and on Thursday morning as Israeli forces detonated vehicles loaded with explosives inside evacuated residential blocks.
The demolitions added to the destruction of homes and infrastructure across an enclave where large numbers of residents have already lost their houses.
Israeli military vehicles also opened fire in areas east of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, and east of the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza. The incidents extended reports of violence across several parts of the territory despite the ceasefire arrangement.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said Israeli violations of the ceasefire had killed 1,501 Palestinians and injured 5,323 others as of Monday. The figures reflect the continuing toll reported by local health authorities after the agreement took effect.
Since October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 175,000 injured in Gaza, according to figures cited by Anadolu. Approximately 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure has also been damaged or destroyed, leaving communities struggling with widespread devastation and the loss of essential services.
The latest attacks have intensified concerns over the effectiveness of the ceasefire and the protection it offers civilians. The reported killing, injuries and demolition of residential buildings illustrate the continuing risks faced by Palestinians despite the formal halt in hostilities.
The continuing violence also threatens efforts to restore basic living conditions across Gaza, where displaced families remain vulnerable and large areas have suffered extensive destruction.
The latest incidents underscore the gap between the ceasefire’s stated purpose and the reality reported by medical sources and residents on the ground.
