Israeli forces kill 4 Palestinians, violate Gaza ceasefire again
Ceasefire violations continue as Israeli forces strike civilians, while US-backed proposals stall amid ongoing destruction and blockade
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) — Israeli forces killed at least four Palestinians in an airstrike in northern Gaza, further undermining a fragile ceasefire repeatedly violated despite ongoing mediation efforts.
Palestinian health authorities said the strike targeted civilians on Jaffa Street near Gaza City’s Darraj neighborhood, leaving four people dead and several others injured.
The attack adds to a growing list of violations since the ceasefire agreement, which has struggled to hold amid continued Israeli military actions.
Israeli authorities claimed the victims were members of a “militant cell” posing an immediate threat. However, such assertions are routinely disputed by independent sources, who say civilians continue to bear the brunt of strikes carried out under broad and often unverified justifications.
The latest killings come as mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye attempt to revive negotiations aimed at stabilizing the ceasefire.
A delegation from Hamas recently met regional mediators in Cairo to discuss proposals, including a controversial disarmament plan reportedly backed by the United States.
Palestinian officials have rejected demands to disarm without firm guarantees that Israel will fully withdraw from Gaza, warning that such proposals effectively seek to impose political surrender while Israeli military operations continue unchecked.
Since the ceasefire came into effect last October, Palestine’s health ministry says Israeli fire has killed at least 700 Palestinians, exposing what experts describe as a pattern of systematic violations carried out with tacit US political and military backing. Israel, meanwhile, reports limited casualties among its forces.
The broader war, widely condemned by rights groups as collective punishment, has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians since October 2023, the majority of them civilians, according to local authorities.
Large parts of Gaza have been reduced to rubble, while famine-like conditions and repeated displacement have devastated the population.
Analysts argue that continued US support for Israel, alongside pressure campaigns framed as “peace initiatives,” has failed to curb the violence, instead enabling ongoing attacks that erode any remaining prospects for a lasting ceasefire.
