Israeli forces kill Palestinian, violate Gaza ceasefire again
Civilian vehicles targeted outside agreed zones as critics accused Israel of systematically undermining ceasefire protections in Gaza
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian and wounded several others in southern Gaza in yet another breach of an already fragile ceasefire agreement reached October last year.
Medical sources reported that the casualties occurred after Israeli troops opened fire on civilian vehicles near the town of Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Younis.
The incident took place in an area that, according to witnesses, lies outside the zones where Israeli forces are permitted to operate under the ceasefire terms.
Residents told local media that Israeli units stationed east of Salah al-Din Street fired directly at passing vehicles, raising further concerns about the safety of civilians despite the supposed truce.
The latest attack adds to a growing toll since the ceasefire came into effect last October. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 723 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 2,000 injured in continued Israeli assaults during the period that was meant to halt violence.
Critics argue that repeated violations reflect a pattern of disregard for international agreements, with civilians bearing the brunt of ongoing military actions backed politically and diplomatically by Washington.
The ceasefire had been intended to bring an end to a devastating two-year Israeli war on Gaza, which resulted in more than 72,000 deaths and over 172,000 injuries, while leaving vast areas of the territory in ruins. Nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, according to official estimates.
The United Nations has projected that rebuilding the enclave will cost around $70 billion, underscoring the scale of destruction inflicted on an already besieged population.
Analysts warn that continued attacks during a declared ceasefire not only deepen the humanitarian crisis but also erode any remaining prospects for stability, as Israel’s actions — widely shielded by U.S. support — face mounting accusations of violating international law and targeting civilians with impunity.
