Iran envoy says Tehran won ‘war of narratives’ with friends’ support
Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam tells Islamabad forum that Iran’s stance on Palestine and sovereignty enjoys backing across region
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (MNTV) — Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan said Tehran has prevailed in “war of narratives,” asserting that strong public backing across the region, including in Pakistan, has reinforced Iran’s position amid ongoing Middle East tensions.
Reza Amiri Moghadam made the remarks during an interactive session organized by the Iranian Cultural Consulate in Islamabad, where he addressed senior journalists and social media activists.
The ambassador said the Middle East has long been a center of global rivalry but argued that major world powers have failed to counter Iran’s narrative in the region.
Reaffirming Tehran’s support for an independent Palestinian state, Moghadam said that since the creation of Israel the international community has effectively been divided between those advocating for a free Palestinian state and those backing Israel. He said Iran has consistently upheld a principled stance on the Palestinian issue and broader regional affairs.
Addressing current tensions in the Middle East, he said diplomatic efforts are underway to ease the crisis through dialogue and added that the likelihood of a full-scale war remains limited at present.
Reflecting on past conflicts, Moghadam cited Iran’s eight-year war with Iraq under former President Saddam Hussein, saying Iran endured what he described as an imposed war and ultimately prevailed. He also accused Israel of contributing to decades of regional instability and said Iran is prepared to confront emerging challenges.
The envoy alleged that Western powers have orchestrated negative media campaigns against Iran but said such efforts have largely failed. He claimed that a majority of the regional public supports Tehran and credited media outlets in Pakistan and neighboring countries with playing what he called a constructive role during recent tensions.
Responding to questions, Moghadam said Pakistan has supported Iran at diplomatic forums, including at the United Nations.
He also called for greater unity among Islamic nations, urging collective solidarity to address shared challenges and pressing for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine along with reconstruction efforts.
Describing the current global environment as one of “economic warfare,” Moghadam said major powers are competing for control over resources and reiterated that Iran would defend its sovereignty and national wealth.
On domestic issues, he highlighted the role of women in Iran’s economy, saying they are active in trade, education and health care and contribute significantly to the country’s economic development.
