Iran defeats Poland in five-set thriller at FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship
Iran secures opening victory in Pool C, set to face Tunisia, Egypt, and Italy in upcoming matches
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran’s national under-19 volleyball team began their 2025 FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Poland, prevailing with set scores of 25–22, 25–14, 17–25, 14–25, 15–13.
The closely contested match marked a strong start for Iran in Pool C of the global youth tournament.
The team is scheduled to face Tunisia on July 26, Egypt on July 28, and Italy on July 29 in the pool stage.
The 19th edition of the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship is currently underway in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and runs from July 24 to August 3.
The biennial competition brings together top under-19 men’s national teams from around the world, organized under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).
This year’s groupings include:
- Pool A: Uzbekistan, Belgium, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Pakistan, Turkey
- Pool B: France, Bulgaria, Japan, China, Algeria, Canada
- Pool C: Iran, Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, Poland, Spain
- Pool D: USA, Korea, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Finland
