Houthis claim drone strike on Saudi Arabia’s Najran Airport
Yemeni group says attack targeted sensitive facility in response to alleged Saudi drone activity; Riyadh has not commented
SANAA, Yemen (MNTV) — Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for a drone strike targeting what it described as a “sensitive target” at Najran Airport in southern Saudi Arabia, though Saudi authorities had not confirmed the incident at the time of publication.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the operation was carried out using a drone and alleged that it successfully struck its intended target.
According to Saree, the attack was launched in response to what the group described as repeated Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace over the provinces of Saada and Hajjah.
The Houthi spokesman warned that any future violations of Yemen’s airspace would be met with further military action.
Saudi authorities had not issued an official response to the Houthi claim, and there was no immediate independent confirmation of the reported attack or any damage at Najran Airport.
The incident comes amid continued cross-border tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing hostilities and advancing a lasting political settlement to Yemen’s conflict.
