Ghana to host landmark African political parties’ summit
Over 100 parties from 50+ African and Caribbean nations expected in Accra for high-level dialogue on governance and economic transformation
ACCRA, Ghana (MNTV) — Ghana will host the African Political Parties’ Summit from August 12 to 14, 2025, marking a historic gathering of over 100 political parties from more than 50 African and Caribbean nations at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Organized by the Africa Governance Centre in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, the summit aims to foster dialogue, build consensus, and enhance inter-party cooperation focused on democratic governance and economic transformation across the continent.
According to an official statement, the summit will bring together political leaders, heads of state, civil society representatives, scholars, and international development partners for three days of strategic engagement.
Ghana’s former President John Dramani Mahama will deliver the opening address, setting the tone for a series of plenary sessions and thematic forums that will explore governance models, policy alignment, and regional integration strategies.
The agenda also includes targeted side meetings, providing space for focused discussions on cross-border cooperation, peaceful political transitions, and joint approaches to pressing development challenges.
Observers say the summit underscores a growing commitment among African and Caribbean stakeholders to strengthen democratic institutions and craft shared responses to the continent’s evolving political and economic landscape.
