Egypt cosmetics market tops $900M amid rising demand
Growing consumer interest, expanding manufacturing and regional exports are expected to lift Egypt's beauty market to $1.57B by 2032
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) – Egypt’s cosmetics and personal care industry generated more than US$900 million in revenue in 2025, with the market projected to reach US$1.57 billion by 2032 as consumer demand continues to rise.
According to Egypt News, industry estimates suggest the sector will grow at an average annual rate of about 7%, driven by the country’s youthful population, increasing spending on personal care among men and the growing influence of social media on consumer purchasing habits.
The changing market has transformed beauty and personal care products beyond daily necessities, with consumers increasingly viewing them as part of their lifestyle, self-expression and overall well-being.
The country’s expansion also reflects broader global trends. The worldwide beauty industry is expected to exceed €290 billion (US$340 billion) in value in 2025, supported by annual growth of roughly 3.5%, while serving an estimated 4.6 billion consumers. That customer base is forecast to increase by more than 600 million by 2030.
North America remains the world’s largest beauty market with a 28% share, followed by North Asia at 27% and Europe at 24%. The South Asia Pacific, Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa region accounts for 12% of global demand, while Latin America represents the remaining 9%.
French cosmetics company L’Oréal has continued expanding its operations in Egypt in line with the government’s efforts to strengthen local manufacturing and industrial production.
The company’s Cairo manufacturing facility, which opened in 2013, now serves as a regional production and export center for the Middle East and North Africa, exporting about 85% of its output to 20 countries.
Industry Minister Khaled Hashem said L’Oréal Egypt has become a successful example of combining innovation, advanced manufacturing and environmental sustainability. He said the factory has strengthened Egypt’s export capacity while helping introduce modern industrial technologies to the local market.
Hashem added that the facility operates entirely on renewable energy and recycles all water used during production, eliminating wastewater discharge. He urged other manufacturers to adopt similar sustainable production practices that support economic growth while reducing environmental impact.
