Dubai revolutionizes traffic flow with upgrades across 40 key locations
RTA targets major roads, school zones, and development areas to boost safety and connectivity
DUBAI, UAE (MNTV) — Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an ambitious infrastructure campaign aimed at transforming traffic management across the city, with upgrades planned in 40 strategic locations between June and September 2025.
The initiative is designed to significantly improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and reduce travel times amid Dubai’s ongoing urban expansion, reported Zawya news.
Works will be carried out across 22 major roads, nine school zones, more than five development areas, and several internal streets in key neighborhoods such as Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, and Nad Al Sheba.
To minimize disruption, construction activities are scheduled during the summer holiday period, with strict safety protocols in place across all sites, RTA confirmed in a statement.
“This comprehensive effort is part of a broader strategy to improve urban mobility and integrate key residential, educational, and commercial zones with a safer and more efficient road network,” the authority said.
Upcoming phases of the project will see targeted improvements at high-traffic corridors including Jumeirah Village Circle toward Hessa Street, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.
Additional works will be undertaken at Al Meydan Street, Al Sa’ada Street, Al Asayel Street, and the intersection of Al Wasl and Al Manara streets.
In a parallel effort to streamline traffic near schools, RTA is carrying out enhancements at nine educational hubs.
These include roadway upgrades at the Al Warqa 1 school complex, a new bus entrance at GEMS School in Al Warqa 3, widened entry and exit points around The English College in Al Safa 1, and a signalized pedestrian crossing on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1—all aimed at easing congestion during school peak hours.
To accommodate the city’s growing population and rapid development, traffic improvements will also be implemented in five major urban expansion zones.
Key projects include a direct access road to Al Muhaisnah labour camps from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, enhancements to Al Mustaqbal Street (Brookfield) for residential access, better connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street via Al Marabea’ Street, and upgrades at the Nad Al Hamar junction near Lootah Mosque.
New parking facilities will also be constructed for the Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1.
Internal roads in various residential and industrial areas—such as Jebel Ali Industrial 1, Al Warqa, Al Khawaneej 2, Nad Al Sheba, and the Tolerance District—will undergo development. RTA will also construct pedestrian walkways in Al Quoz Creative Zone to enhance safety for foot traffic.
