Dubai Police unveils back-to-school security plan for new academic year
Initiative includes 250 patrols, drones, and community programmes to enhance school safety
DUBAI, UAE (MNTV) — Dubai Police has launched a comprehensive “School Security” plan for the 2025–2026 academic year, deploying hundreds of officers, patrols, and awareness programmes to ensure student safety as schools reopen.
The initiative, announced during a press conference at the Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, will see 250 security and traffic patrols stationed near schools, supported by nine drones for traffic monitoring, six luxury patrol vehicles, four mounted police units, and 60 bicycles.
More than 750 officers and police staff will directly engage with students, while 300 children will take part in the “Safety Ambassadors” programme. The plan also features 28 awareness campaigns in partnership with 15 organisations.
Brigadier Nasser Al Zarri, acting director of Dubai Police Academy, joined senior officials including Dr. Brigadier Abdulrahman Al Maamari, secretary-general of Hemaya Council, and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ali Al Matroushi, director of Child and Women Protection, alongside school principals and community representatives.
Dr. Brigadier Al Maamari said the plan follows directives from lieutenant general Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, to create a secure and interactive school environment.
He explained that field teams will visit 71 schools, including Hemaya schools, to raise awareness among students and parents on safety and community responsibility.
The Hemaya Council, which coordinates initiatives such as the Safety Ambassadors, Positive Spirit Council, and the Naseej programme, will oversee the rollout.
Al Maamari praised the cooperation between government and private institutions in ensuring a safe start to the school year.
Captain Majid bin Saaed Al Kaabi, Head of the School Security initiative, said the programme focuses on collaboration with educators, addressing behavioural issues, and strengthening trust between students, families, and police.
He noted that activities will include 18 events, from road safety workshops to interactive sessions featuring the Dubai Police mascot “Mansour.” Students will also receive school supplies and gifts.
“The safety of our children is a shared responsibility,” Captain Al Kaabi said, stressing the importance of cooperation between families, schools, and the police to provide a safe and motivating educational environment.
