Bangladesh launches first corporate AI leadership summit
Executives from banking, manufacturing, healthcare and garment sectors gathered in Dhaka as country pushes to prepare workforce for AI-driven economy
DHAKA, Bangladesh (MNTV) — Bangladesh launched its first corporate artificial intelligence summit on Friday, bringing together senior business leaders from key industries as the country seeks to accelerate adoption of AI technologies across its economy.
The event, titled “AI Mastery Summit: Leading Bangladesh’s AI Future,” brought together leaders from sectors including banking, insurance, pharmaceuticals, textiles and garment manufacturing, according to organizers from MyAI, a Bangladesh-based initiative focused on artificial intelligence education and workforce development.
Held in Dhaka’s commercial district of Gulshan, the summit highlighted increasing recognition among Bangladeshi businesses that artificial intelligence is likely to play a major role in future productivity, competitiveness and workforce transformation.
Bangladesh, one of the world’s largest garment exporters and one of South Asia’s fastest-growing economies, has increasingly sought to expand its digital capabilities as governments and corporations around the world race to adopt AI technologies.
While global discussions on artificial intelligence often focus on major technology powers such as the United States and China, developing economies are also facing pressure to ensure their workforces remain competitive in an AI-driven global market.
Organizers said the summit was designed to encourage business leaders to view artificial intelligence not merely as a technical specialty but as a core professional skill that will increasingly affect decision-making across industries.
The gathering formed part of a broader two-month initiative called “AI for Professional Success,” a capacity-building program aimed at increasing AI awareness and practical knowledge among professionals working in Bangladesh’s corporate sector. Organizers also conducted a workshop on “AI Fluency” alongside the summit.
Saif Noman Khan, co-founder of MyAI and an associate professor at the Institute of Business Administration at the University of Dhaka, said Bangladesh must adapt quickly to the rapid global expansion of artificial intelligence.
He said AI technology remains in an early stage of development but is evolving rapidly, making it essential for professionals and business leaders to prepare now rather than wait for wider adoption.
“The corporate sector of Bangladesh cannot be left out of this global change,” Khan said, adding that efforts are underway to build AI skills and awareness among leaders responsible for managing the country’s key industries.
