Bahrain’s BENEFIT launches digital direct debit service
New service aims to modernize recurring payments and strengthen Kingdom’s fintech and digital payments ecosystem
MANAMA, Bahrain (MNTV) — BENEFIT, Bahrain’s leading electronic financial transactions provider, has introduced a Digital Direct Debit service through its BenefitPay application under the “Fawateer” platform, marking a new phase in the Kingdom’s digital payments transformation.
According to TechAfrica News, the service replaces traditional paper-based direct debit procedures with an instant, fully digital mandate activation process.
By using secure, verified customer credentials, the system reduces manual intervention, shortens processing times, and lowers fraud risks commonly associated with conventional methods.
The launch aligns with directives from the Central Bank of Bahrain to enhance the country’s position as a regional hub for fintech innovation and digital payments infrastructure.
Officials say the initiative supports the broader shift toward a more efficient and transparent financial ecosystem.
For businesses and billing entities, the platform automates authorization and collection processes, reducing administrative burdens, minimizing human error, and lowering operational costs. Automated collections on due dates are also expected to improve cash flow management.
Consumers benefit from a simplified and seamless payment experience within a fully paperless framework, supporting environmental sustainability.
The service is designed to integrate with fintech innovations such as Open Banking, Open Finance, embedded finance, and account-to-account payments, forming part of Bahrain’s transition toward more connected and intelligent financial systems.
Powered by an API-based infrastructure, the solution links billing and invoicing systems directly with customer applications.
It also enables automated reconciliation, integration with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, and compliance with ISO 20022 international financial messaging standards.
Abdulwahed AlJanahi, Chief Executive of BENEFIT, described the launch as a milestone in advancing Bahrain’s payment and settlement services, reaffirming the company’s commitment to delivering secure, innovative solutions that support the Kingdom’s digital economy ambitions.
