Afghanistan’s Industry Week exhibition draws half a million visitors
Exhibitors sign $7M in deals as Afghan authorities urge local and international investors to boost industry under improving security
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — Afghanistan’s largest industry showcase concluded on Sunday in Kabul, marking a notable push for local economic development amid efforts to attract investment and strengthen self-sufficiency.
The six-day Industry Week exhibition featured more than 700 booths representing domestic products across various sectors. Organizers reported that the event drew approximately 500,000 visitors, including around 1,500 foreign nationals, and resulted in signed contracts totaling $7 million.
According to TOLOnews, the exhibition was spearheaded by the Chamber of Industries and Mines in partnership with business and government stakeholders. The event brought together 5,000 traders, industrialists, and investors, underscoring growing interest in Afghanistan’s emerging markets.
Shirbaz Kaminzada, head of the Chamber of Industries and Mines, described the turnout as a milestone: “About 500,000 of our compatriots and nearly 1,500 foreigners visited the exhibition, showing strong support for Afghan-made goods.”
Khan Mohammad Frutan, head of the Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, echoed the call for national cooperation, stating, “Self-sufficiency will only be achieved if we all work together. I urge the nation and elders to support and use domestic products.”
Officials from the Taliban-led administration also used the platform to promote Afghanistan’s investment potential. Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai, deputy minister of labor and social affairs, urged both local and international investors to seize opportunities in the country’s improving security environment.
“Our request is that today, security is ensured across Afghanistan, and there are excellent opportunities in all sectors. Investors should increase their investments,” Ahmadzai said.
Several booth holders praised the event for creating commercial opportunities and called for its continuation as an annual fixture.
“We signed contracts. It’s very good, and we hope the authorities will organize more exhibitions regularly,” said Fardin,a booth holder.
On the exhibition’s opening day, deputy prime ministers of the Taliban-led Government reiterated their commitment to fostering industrial growth and economic resilience through increased trade, local production, and investment facilitation.
