Israel kills two Palestinians in Gaza strikes despite ceasefire

GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — Two Palestinians were killed and several others wounded Thursday in separate Israeli strikes on Khan Younis and Gaza City, according to Palestinian medical and emergency sources.

An Israeli drone struck a motorcycle carrying two people near the Palestinian Red Crescent Society building in the Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Younis, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Nasser Hospital received the victim’s body and those wounded in the strike.

In Gaza City, Israeli forces targeted a vehicle in the Sheikh Ajleen neighborhood southwest of the city, killing another Palestinian and wounding several others, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Ambulance crews transported the casualties to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City.

The strikes occurred despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025, with Palestinian residents reporting continued artillery fire, drone activity and Israeli military movements across parts of the Gaza Strip.

Maysa Yousef, a mother of three living in central Gaza, described the security situation as extremely difficult, saying artillery fire, illumination flares and quadcopter drones remain a constant presence.

Yousef said Israeli forces have also fired near populated areas close to the so-called Yellow Line, resulting in additional deaths and injuries.

She said a recent Israeli strike in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza hit a tuk-tuk and killed a person, while another Palestinian was killed in a separate incident the previous day.

Yousef also said Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza was evacuated following warnings that the facility could come under attack. Patients, displaced people and journalists were temporarily forced into the streets before later returning.

She said Israeli military positions and the Yellow Line were continuing to move deeper into Gaza, while bulldozers, tanks and artillery added to the pressure on civilians.

Since the ceasefire began, Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,260 Palestinians and wounded more than 4,150 others, while 808 bodies have been recovered, according to Gaza’s local health authority.

UN experts on Aug. 10 condemned what they described as a significant escalation in attacks against Palestinian civilians across the occupied Palestinian territories during July.

The experts said Israeli forces killed about 160 Palestinians in Gaza during July, including women, children and elderly people. They said many of the deaths occurred in densely populated areas sheltering displaced civilians, including Al-Mawasi, and in locations away from the Yellow Line.

The UN experts also warned that the continued westward movement of the Yellow Line, the construction of a 23-kilometer barrier and widespread demolition of residential buildings were forcibly altering Gaza’s geography and contributing to further displacement.

The Yellow Line serves as the Israeli military’s ceasefire demarcation inside Gaza and marks areas where Israeli forces remain deployed.

The experts further warned that humanitarian conditions remained severe, saying food assistance was not entering Gaza freely and that commercially supplied goods were frequently highly processed and inadequate for the population’s nutritional and cultural needs.

The continuing strikes and reported expansion of Israeli military-controlled areas have raised renewed concerns over the durability of the ceasefire and the protection of Palestinian civilians across Gaza.
