CENTCOM says it completed fresh strikes on Iranian military sites
US military says it hit command centers, missile and drone launch sites, and air defenses to degrade Iran's ability to attack shipping in Strait of Hormuz
WASHINGTON (MNTV) — US Central Command said on Monday it had completed another round of strikes against Iran, targeting the country’s military infrastructure.
American forces hit Iranian military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems, CENTCOM said in a statement, describing the aim as degrading Iran’s ability to keep attacking commercial vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz.
It said transits through the international corridor were continuing, and that since early May its forces had helped move roughly 900 commercial vessels carrying about 450 million barrels of crude oil through the waterway.
CENTCOM said American forces remained postured to hold Iran accountable for what it called unwarranted aggression against civilian mariners seeking to transit the strait freely.
The statement is the latest in days of exchanged attacks between the two sides around the Strait of Hormuz, which have continued despite the Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding they signed in June to end the war and reach a lasting peace agreement.
