NEW DELHI (MNTV) — Leaders and governments around the world have expressed shock and extended condolences following the deadly explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, which killed at least thirteen people and injured several others.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said in a post on X that she was in “deep sorrow to learn that many precious lives were lost in the explosion.”
She added, “On behalf of the government and people of Japan, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their bereaved families.”
Israel joined other nations in expressing solidarity. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar wrote on X, offering “deepest condolences to the people of India and especially to the families of the innocent victims.”
He added that Israel “stands with India in its fight against terror.”
China’s Foreign Ministry expressed shock and condolences.
Spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing “is shocked by this incident, conveyed condolences to the victims, extended sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased and the injured, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.”
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry expressed grief, writing that it “shares the sorrow of the people and government of India following a tragic explosion in the heart of New Delhi” and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
The United States extended its condolences to the victims’ families, praying for a swift recovery of those injured.
The U.K. also issued guidance for travellers, advising them to remain vigilant and follow local authorities’ instructions.
South Asian nations voice solidarity
Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu expressed “deep sadness” over the “tragic loss of lives” and extended good wishes for the swift recovery of those injured.
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said he was “saddened by news of the explosion” and affirmed that Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the Indian people.
Nepalese Prime Minister expressed shock and offered “deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Bhutan’s King Druk Gyalpo offered prayers for those who lost their lives and for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a stronger India.
Although Indian officials have not formally confirmed the blast as an act of terrorism, investigators invoked anti-terror laws and are treating the incident as a possible suicide attack.
