Women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan display local products
Three-day market in Neili highlights local produce and handicrafts, aiming to boost livelihoods and strengthen domestic trade
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — A three-day exhibition featuring agricultural products and handicrafts has opened in Neili, the capital of central Daikundi province, as part of efforts to promote women entrepreneurs and expand markets for local goods.
According to independent outlet Pajhwok Afghan News, the event — organized by Tasul Services Company in partnership with local institutions and the provincial Department of Commerce and Industry — showcases fresh and dried fruits, dairy products, and handmade crafts.
Provincial Commerce and Industry Director Karim Salehi said the initiative is designed to encourage residents to buy Afghan-made products. He emphasized that strengthening demand for domestic goods would bolster the national economy and improve livelihoods in rural areas.
Stallholders welcomed the opportunity to present their work. Ismail Omid, who displayed local produce, said exhibitions should be held more frequently in Daikundi to give entrepreneurs visibility and recognition. He noted that many of the province’s distinctive products struggle to find buyers due to limited marketing opportunities.
Another participant, Khudadad, said the exhibition provides a valuable platform for small producers, describing it as “an important step toward the growth and development” of agriculture and handicrafts in the province.
Organizers hope the event will increase demand for Afghan goods while creating space for women entrepreneurs to expand their businesses in one of the country’s most underserved regions.
