Venezuelan attorney general: Trump aims to overthrow our government
Venezuelan Attorney General said there is “no doubt” U.S. President Donald Trump aims to overthrow his country’s government
CARACAS, Venezuela (MNTV) – Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab said there is “no doubt” U.S. President Donald Trump aims to overthrow his country’s government and turn it into a “colony,” accusing Washington of using military pressure to seize Venezuela’s natural resources.
Saab told the BBC that despite what he called an “illegitimate U.S. campaign,” Venezuela remains open to dialogue.
When asked about a potential invasion, he said, “It shouldn’t happen, but we are prepared.”
The U.S. Navy has expanded operations in the Caribbean, deploying warships, jets, and drones in what it calls anti-narcotics missions.
Caracas says the buildup is a pretext for regime change.
Republican senators Lindsey Graham and Rick Scott said land strikes on Venezuela were possible, warning that President Nicolás Maduro’s “days are numbered.”
Maduro accused Washington of “fabricating war,” calling instead for “peace, not war.”
