Uzbekistan to train 50,000 young entrepreneurs by 2030
New initiative connects students with investors and accelerators as Uzbekistan bets on startups to drive economic diversification
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Uzbekistan has unveiled an ambitious plan to equip 50,000 young people with entrepreneurial skills by 2030, part of a broader effort to transform the country into a regional hub for startups and innovation.
The initiative is being rolled out through the SG Founders School, launched in April 2025 by Startup Garage. More than 1,000 students have already enrolled in its first months, receiving training, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with investors and experienced entrepreneurs.
Organizers say the goal is to prepare a generation capable of turning ideas into viable businesses.
“Reaching 1,000 students matters because it shows our young people aren’t waiting, they’re ready,” said Mukhammad Khalil, founder of Startup Garage. “The combination of free access to training and the ministry’s ecosystem support is turning entrepreneurship from a dream into a career path.”
The program is backed by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies, which has overseen the rapid growth of IT Park Uzbekistan — now home to more than 2,800 companies, including 730 foreign firms.
Recent initiatives such as the IT-Visa and Zero Risk program have been designed to attract international talent and investment, while the Digital Startups Program provides co-funding and acceleration to early-stage ventures.
Officials hope that by training tens of thousands of students, Uzbekistan can launch thousands of startups over the next decade, creating jobs and driving innovation.
With nearly two-thirds of its population under 35, the government sees youth entrepreneurship as a cornerstone of economic diversification beyond energy and raw materials.
