Uzbekistan bans e-cigarettes and e-liquids
Uzbekistan has imposed a nationwide ban on electronic cigarettes and e-liquids, effective Nov. 27
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Uzbekistan has imposed a nationwide ban on electronic cigarettes and e-liquids, effective Nov. 27, UzDaily.com reported.
The prohibition covers the purchase, possession, production and cross-border transportation of vaping products, with violators facing hefty fines or prison terms of up to five years.
The legislation, approved by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis in April 2025 following earlier adoption by the lower house, was signed into law by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It criminalizes violations of the ban, particularly large-scale or repeated offenses after administrative sanctions.
The amendments revise the law “On Restricting the Distribution and Consumption of Alcohol and Tobacco Products” and related sections of the Criminal Code.
Penalties include fines ranging from 300 to 500 base calculation units, corrective labor for two to three years, restriction of freedom or imprisonment for three to five years.
Authorities noted that individuals who voluntarily report violations and surrender prohibited items may be exempted from liability. The government emphasized that the move aims to protect public health and curb nicotine use nationwide.
