UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Najat Rochdi condemned Israel’s deadly incursion into the Damascus countryside
NEW YORK, United States (MNTV) – UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Najat Rochdi condemned Israel’s deadly incursion into the Damascus countryside, which killed 13 civilians and displaced families from the town of Beit Jinn.
“The raid and accompanying strikes have triggered the displacement of families from the town of Beit Jinn, forcing them to flee to nearby areas in search of safety,” Rochdi said.
She called the attacks “a grave and unacceptable violation” of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, further destabilizing an already fragile environment.
Rochdi reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and urged full adherence to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
Syrian state media reported that at least 13 people—including women and children—were killed and many others wounded in the Israeli attack on Beit Jinn and the road to Mazraat Beit Jinn. Israel said six of its soldiers were injured, three critically.
Syria condemned the raid as a “criminal assault,” saying the incursion and airstrikes amount to a war crime.
