UAE tops global safety rankings in 2025 mid-year review
Abu Dhabi and Dubai maintain top positions among world’s safest cities, according to latest Numbeo index
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (MNTV) — The United Arab Emirates has been ranked the safest country in the world in the 2025 mid-year edition of the Safety Index by Numbeo, a global database that compiles crowd-sourced data on quality of life metrics.
With a score of 85.2 points, the UAE secured the top position ahead of Andorra (84.8), Qatar (84.6), Taiwan, and Macao (China), which rounded out the top five.
The ranking reflects the country’s ongoing emphasis on public safety, infrastructure development, and community policing efforts.
The UAE had previously ranked second in Numbeo’s March 2025 update, trailing Andorra.
The mid-year review marks a return to the top spot for the Gulf nation, which is home to more than 200 nationalities and is widely recognized for its high standard of living and strong internal security framework.
Among other Middle Eastern countries, Saudi Arabia ranked 14th on the global list, followed by Bahrain at 15, Kuwait at 38, and Jordan at 54. Pakistan placed 62nd, while India and the Philippines came in at 67 and 66, respectively.
Western countries saw lower rankings, with the United Kingdom positioned at 86 and the United States at 91, scoring 51.6 and 50.8 points respectively.
Abu Dhabi also retained its title as the world’s safest city, achieving a Safety Index score of 88.2 and recording the lowest Crime Index score globally at 11.8.
Dubai, meanwhile, ranked fifth among the safest cities worldwide, reaffirming the UAE’s reputation for urban safety and efficient law enforcement.
In 2024, both Abu Dhabi and Dubai were also recognized as the most liveable cities in the Middle East and Africa by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), making notable gains in healthcare and education.
