TUNIS, Tunisia (MNTV) – The 39th edition of the Tunis International Book Fair (FILT) is scheduled to take place from April 25 to May 4, 2025, at the Kram Exhibition Palace in Tunis.
This year, China will be the guest of honor, highlighting its rich cultural heritage and strengthening literary ties with Tunisia.
A press conference held at the Chedli-Klibi City of Culture introduced the event’s program, featuring notable figures such as Egyptian author Ahmed Mourad, who is participating in various workshops and discussions.
The fair will also address pressing global issues, including a colloquium on the role of literature in resistance movements, particularly focusing on the situation in Gaza, reported Le Presse.
The fair will host 313 exhibitors from 27 countries, including Venezuela, Italy, Russia, Romania, France, Spain, Portugal, and Japan.
Visitors can look forward to 30 cultural activities, including public readings, author meet-and-greets, and intellectual debates.
Prominent authors such as Rachid Boudjedra (Algeria), Mohamed Mesbah (Tunisia), Ibrahim Al-Koni (Libya), Habib Abdulrab Sarori (Yemen), Abdelfattah Doula (Palestine), Mazarine Pingeot (France), Liviu Jicman (Romania), Kōichi Honda (Japan), and Cao Wenxuan (China) are expected to attend.
China’s participation will feature various activities showcasing its arts and heritage. The event will also see the signing of agreements between Tunisian and Chinese publishers, including a memorandum on translating books between Chinese and Arabic.
To ensure broader accessibility, the fair will extend its activities to the City of Culture, particularly for those unable to visit the main venue.
An exhibition of caricatures by artist Aly Abid, highlighting notable Tunisian figures in theater, music, and literature, will also be featured.
The 38th edition in 2024 saw participation from 25 countries, 314 pavilions, and nearly 280 workshops for children and youth. Building on this success, the 2025 fair aims to offer an even more enriching experience for all attendees.
