Trump signals Cuba ‘next’ target for US military action
President Donald Trump suggested Cuba could be the next target of American military action
PALM BEACH, United States (MNTV) – U.S. President Donald Trump suggested Cuba could be the next target of American military action, remarks he immediately walked back after making them at a Saudi investment conference in Florida.
Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative on Friday, Trump reflected on US military operations in Venezuela and Iran before saying: “Cuba is next, by the way.” He quickly added: “But pretend I didn’t say that. Please, pretend I didn’t. Please, please, please, media, please disregard that statement.”
The Cuban government did not immediately respond to the remarks. Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio had said earlier this week that his country was preparing for the possibility of U.S. military aggression.
The comments come amid ongoing U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran and a broader pattern of Trump administration pressure on governments in the Western Hemisphere, including the overthrow of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela earlier this year.
