Trump says Gaza ceasefire ‘still in place’ despite Israeli airstrikes
US President Donald Trump affirmed Sunday that the Gaza ceasefire remains officially in effect despite ongoing Israeli military operations
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) — US President Donald Trump affirmed Sunday that the Gaza ceasefire remains officially in effect despite ongoing Israeli military operations that have left scores of Palestinians killed and wounded.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Washington remains committed to maintaining calm between Israel and Hamas but acknowledged that not all militant factions may be adhering to the truce.
“We want to make sure that it’s going to be very peaceful with Hamas,” he said, describing the group as “quite rambunctious.”
He suggested that internal divisions within Hamas might explain the continued hostilities. “We think maybe the leadership isn’t involved in that… some rebels within,” Trump added.
According to Palestinian health officials in Gaza, at least 97 Palestinians have been killed and 230 injured since the ceasefire theoretically took effect on October 10.
The Gaza Government Media Office documented 80 Israeli violations of the truce, calling them “flagrant breaches of international humanitarian law.”
Trump emphasized that his administration would address the situation “toughly but properly,” reaffirming US diplomatic engagement in the Middle East as it seeks to balance strong support for Israel with efforts to stabilize Gaza under the current ceasefire framework.
