Tajik women inventors win 10 medals at global expo in South Korea
Tajik scientists honored for innovations at international exhibition celebrating women inventors
DUSHANBE, Tajikistan (MNTV) — Tajikistan’s women scientists have been recognized on the global stage, bringing home 10 medals from a major international exposition in South Korea that celebrates female-led innovation.
The awards were secured at the 2025 International Korean Women Inventors Exposition (KIWIE), which concluded recently in Goyang, just outside Seoul. The event featured more than 400 inventions from participants across 16 countries.
According to a report by the independent news outlet Asia Plus, the Tajik delegation included 10 inventors, five of whom received gold medals for contributions in medical and environmental research.
Among the top awardees was Ganjina Navrouzoda, honored for a treatment method targeting chronic respiratory diseases. She also received a special award from the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA).
Other gold winners included Rukhshona Aloviddinzoda for developing a plant protection agent, and Munifiza Burhoni for her innovative approach to radiation therapy for skin cancer and COVID-19. Gulandom Karimzade and Safiya Saifiyeva were also recognized for breakthroughs in reconstructive surgery.
Silver medals went to Fariza Halimova for a diagnostic method for endogenous intoxication—also recognized by an Iranian inventors association—and Zumrad Ghaibullaeva for her work on metallic hydride production.
Three bronze medals were awarded to Chamanoro Shoziyoyeva for a scented candle invention, Zarina Madaliyeva for a functional school jacket design, and Zilola Mavlanova for a system to optimize athletic training.
The Korea International Women’s Invention Exposition, now in its 18th edition, is one of the world’s leading platforms for showcasing female inventors. Organized by the Korea Women Inventors Association with support from the Korean Intellectual Property Office and IFIA, the event promotes cross-border innovation and knowledge exchange.
A ceremony to honor the Tajik winners was held recently at the National Patent and Information Center under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in Dushanbe. Officials noted that since 2012, Tajik women have collectively earned 79 medals at KIWIE, including 31 gold.
