Syrian film ‘As Befits You’ wins best female performance award at Festival Dcheira
Recognition highlights growing artistic movement and quality of Syrian cinema after the decades long rule of Bashar-al-Assad
RABAT, Syria (MNTV) — The Syrian film “As Befits You,” directed by Kawthar Maarawi, won the Best Female Performance Award for actress Rama Zain al-Abidin at the Festival Dcheira International du Cinéma.
Director Maarawi told SANA that the award is the result of the collective efforts of the entire production team.
She noted that this is the film’s second award after receiving recognition at the Libya Film Festival, emphasizing the jury’s appreciation of its artistic quality.
She also praised the General Organization for Cinema, which produced the film, highlighting the importance of supporting Syrian film production amid the country’s advancing artistic movement.
The film explores themes of loss and nostalgia, capturing the emotional and internal struggles faced by individuals after losing loved ones.
