Syria and Jordan explore enhanced cooperation in telecommunications
Officials discuss investment opportunities and infrastructure development to boost regional connectivity
DAMASCUS, Syria (MNTV) — Syria and Jordan are advancing cooperation in the telecommunications and information technology sectors, highlighted by a meeting between Syrian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal and a delegation of Jordanian businessmen led by Khalil Mohammad al-Haj Tawfiq, chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting focused on exploring new opportunities to strengthen joint collaboration and investment in these key industries.
During the meeting, Minister Haykal highlighted the ministry’s commitment to providing high-quality services to Syrian citizens at competitive prices.
He emphasized the importance of encouraging investment in telecommunications, IT, and postal services to enhance service quality and achieve excellence.
Haykal also acknowledged the significant progress made by Jordanian companies operating in the region’s telecom and IT sectors.
“Jordanian firms have played a vital role in developing and supporting various countries through innovative solutions and technical expertise,” he said.
In response, the Jordanian delegation head outlined Jordan’s successful experience in delivering technical services to government agencies via specialized programs and operating systems.
He identified key areas for collaboration, particularly in rehabilitating and upgrading digital infrastructure, expanding internet access, and advancing digital technology.
Both sides expressed optimism that the discussions would pave the way for stronger bilateral partnerships, contributing to improved connectivity and technological growth across the region.
