Syria and Azerbaijan discuss security cooperation in Damascus
Officials explore joint efforts to combat organized crime and strengthen coordination between law enforcement authorities of both countries
DAMASCUS, Syria (MNTV) — Syrian and Azerbaijani officials held talks in Damascus on Wednesday aimed at strengthening bilateral security cooperation and improving coordination in efforts to combat organized crime.
The meeting brought together Colonel Abdul Rahim Jbara, director of the International Cooperation Department at Syria’s Interior Ministry, and Alnur Shah Huseynov, chargé d’affaires of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Damascus.
According to a statement from the Syrian Interior Ministry, the discussions focused on expanding collaboration between the two countries in policing and security-related fields.
Both sides examined ways to enhance the exchange of expertise and information-sharing mechanisms to support joint efforts against organized criminal networks.
Officials also discussed strengthening broader security coordination in a way that contributes to regional stability and serves the mutual interests of Syria and Azerbaijan.
The Interior Ministry said the talks are part of Syria’s ongoing efforts to expand partnerships with regional and international counterparts in security cooperation and law enforcement.
