Saudi Arabia, China sign $214m deal to localize healthcare sector
New partnership under Vision 2030 aims to boost private participation, transfer medical technology, and expand advanced healthcare services nationwide
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) — Saudi Arabia signed a $214 million partnership with China’s ewpartners to advance healthcare localization, attract investment, and strengthen private sector participation in the Kingdom’s growing medical industry.
The agreement, inked during the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh, involves the Ministry of Investment (MISA), the Ministry of Health (MoH), and ewpartners, targeting key areas under the Vision 2030 health transformation program.
Investment opportunities will be developed in dialysis services, rehabilitation medicine, fertility and IVF, and medical diagnostics, with the goal of localizing specialized medical expertise and expanding access to advanced healthcare technologies across the Kingdom.
The initiative also supports national efforts to raise private sector involvement in healthcare delivery from 40 to 65 percent, enhancing competitiveness and driving innovation through knowledge transfer and foreign collaboration.
Ammar Altaf, Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Investment, said the partnership will help introduce cutting-edge Chinese medical technologies to Saudi Arabia. “Together with ewpartners, we aim to foster a dynamic ecosystem for healthcare innovation in the Kingdom,” he noted.
Jessica Wong, Founder and Managing Partner of ewpartners, said the collaboration seeks to adapt successful Asian healthcare models for Saudi needs. “By localizing proven solutions in dialysis, rehabilitation, fertility, and diagnostics, we aim to improve access and accelerate innovation,” she said.
Since entering the Saudi market in 2017, ewpartners has invested in major ventures including Alibaba Cloud–STC, Leshines, Sahm Capital, and J&T Express Middle East. Its healthcare entry will begin with EverLife Healthcare, the world’s fourth-largest nephrology and dialysis network.
The deal marks a new milestone in Saudi Arabia’s effort to build a resilient, high-tech healthcare system aligned with Vision 2030’s localization and diversification goals.
