Saudi Arabia launches ‘Sustainable Steps’ to boost environmental awareness
Initiative promotes eco-friendly tourism, responsible camping, and public engagement in preserving the Kingdom’s natural landscapes
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) — Saudi Arabia will launch the first phase of its new environmental awareness campaign, Sustainable Steps, aimed at encouraging responsible environmental behavior and sustainable tourism practices across the Kingdom.
Supported by the Environment Fund and organized in partnership with the Rahala Association in Tanuma governorate, the initiative will feature both theoretical and hands-on activities held on Fridays and Saturdays.
These activities will engage visitors to public parks in adopting eco-friendly habits that help protect the environment and preserve local landmarks, Arab News reported.
The program’s first phase will be implemented at Al-Sharaf Park and Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Park, in coordination with Tanuma governorate authorities.
Participants will receive guidance on key environmental principles, including proper waste disposal, reducing fire impact, camping responsibly, and respecting wildlife and natural habitats.
Fawaz Al-Enezi, senior vice president of marketing and communications and spokesperson for the Environment Fund, said the initiative aims to strengthen community participation in environmental protection by empowering civil society organizations and volunteers.
He added that the Environment Fund continues to promote environmental sustainability across Saudi Arabia by supporting research, innovation, and local initiatives through its Incentives and Grants Program, which includes 16 specialized tracks accessible via the fund’s website.
