Saudi Arabia allocates $1.4 million for 1,000 orphans in Tajikistan
Funding will support orphans in multiple regions, with financial aid provided for 12 months
DUSHANBE, Tajikistan (MNTV) — Saudi Arabia is set to allocate more than US$1.4 million to assist 1,000 orphans in Tajikistan under the third phase of its Orphan Care in Tajikistan project.
The funds, distributed over 12 months, will provide each orphan with US$100 per month.
The financial support is part of the ongoing efforts by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to support vulnerable children in Tajikistan.
The project aims to benefit orphans and half-orphans across various regions, including Bokhtar, Kulob, Sughd province, and the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
The project’s goal is to provide financial assistance to orphans who have lost one or both parents.
In addition to monetary aid, the initiative includes free professional training courses, sports programs, and psychological support for both the children and their guardians.
A meeting to discuss the execution of the project’s earlier phases was held in Dushanbe, attended by Waleed bin Abdurahman Al-Rasheedan, ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Tajikistan, and Bahodour Qurbonyon, secretary-general of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan.
During this meeting, it was noted that the previous two phases of the project had already benefited 1,100 orphans, with over US$1.5 million allocated in total.
The third phase will extend similar benefits, with US$1,416,900 earmarked for distribution across the designated regions. During the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays, orphans will receive an additional US$30 in assistance.
Though the start date for the new round of payments has yet to be finalized, the agreement is expected to be signed at the upcoming Fourth Humanitarian Forum in Riyadh.
