Russian airstrikes have destroyed a children’s hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, local officials said Wednesday.
The Mariupol city council said the Russian airforce dropped several bombs.
People and children were under the wreckage of the Mariupol maternity hospital.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on Telegram calling the strikes an “atrocity.”
Zelensky has called for a no-fly zone over Ukraine, but the U.S. and other world powers have declined to support it.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claims the hospital had been serving as a military base for Ukrainian nationalists.
