“Ramadan Tent” to feed 6,000 in Bishkek during Ramadan
Social and charitable initiative known as “Tent of Ramadan” will begin operations Feb. 20 in Bishkek, marking 10th year of the project
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (MNTV) — A social and charitable initiative known as the “Tent of Ramadan” will begin operations Feb. 20 in Bishkek, marking the 10th year of the project organized by the Al-Ummah Public Charitable Foundation with support from local residents.
Throughout the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the tent will host daily iftar meals accompanied by cultural programs. Organizers say the project is aimed primarily at vulnerable groups, including orphans, people with disabilities, children from orphanages, large families, single mothers and elderly people living alone.
More than 6,000 people are expected to attend the evening meals over the course of the month.
Organizers say the initiative seeks not only to provide humanitarian assistance but also to create a festive and welcoming atmosphere for those facing hardship. The project also promotes civic engagement and community solidarity.
Previous editions of the Ramadan Tent in Bishkek and Osh have drawn broad recognition locally and abroad, with organizers describing the initiative as a bridge of friendship between communities.
The project has also attracted international attention in recent years. In 2024, Turkish chef and restaurateur Burak Özdemir visited Kyrgyzstan at the foundation’s invitation. In 2025, South Korean influencer and philanthropist Daud Kim attended as a guest.
For information about participation or supporting the project, organizers said inquiries may be directed to foundation director Eliana-Maryam Satarova at +996 707 33 53 69.
