OIC urges UN Security Council to approve full Palestinian membership
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called on the UN Security Council to support Palestine’s full membership
NEW YORK, United States (MNTV) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called on the UN Security Council to support Palestine’s full membership and take concrete steps to end Israel’s occupation while maintaining the Gaza ceasefire.
Speaking on behalf of the OIC, Türkiye’s Deputy Envoy to the UN Asli Guven welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s role in brokering the recent ceasefire, saying it opened “a new vista for durable peace in the Middle East.”
“We call for timely action of the council on admitting Palestine as a full-fledged member of the United Nations,” she said.
Guven highlighted the human toll of the two-year Gaza war, citing “the colossal loss of over 68,000 mostly civilian casualties,” including medical workers, UNRWA staff, and journalists.
The OIC also condemned Israel’s actions in Syria and Lebanon, rejecting its control of the occupied Golan Heights as “null and void,” and urged Israel to withdraw from all occupied Arab lands immediately.
