Kyrgyz youth put heads together to design ‘city of the future’
A youth-led hackathon aimed at generating innovative ideas for a safer, more modern urban environment has opened in Bishkek
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (MNTV) — A youth-led hackathon aimed at generating innovative ideas for a safer, more modern urban environment has opened in Bishkek, organizers said.
The UrbanTech Hackathon, hosted by the Tekaiym Public Foundation, will bring together students, young professionals, programmers, designers and civic activists for five days to develop prototypes for the “city of the future,” Kabar reported.
The event will conclude with an in-person pitching session in Bishkek, where teams will present their concepts to a panel of experts and partner organizations.
“UrbanTech is an opportunity for young people to influence the development of their home city today. We are creating an environment where ideas turn into real solutions, and where students gain experience that helps shape future leaders of urban transformation,” organizers said.
Participants will receive mentoring support, attend workshops and compete for prizes offered by partner institutions.
Teams will focus on solutions across key areas including transport, urban infrastructure, ecology, digital security and overall resident comfort.
Registration for participants ages 18 to 25 remains open until 5 p.m. on Dec. 8 through the platform techaim.asia.
