Kuwait advances Al-Sabriya Labour City development alongside major housing projects
The northern mega-project is part of a three-city plan adding 170,000 housing units, with Chinese firms exploring investment and technical cooperation
KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait (MNTV) – Kuwait is pushing forward with the 55,000-unit Al-Sabriya Labour City, one of its largest housing and development initiatives in the country’s north, as part of a broader strategy to expand modern urban infrastructure.
The project, according to Zawya news, was reviewed during an aerial inspection led by Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari, who also toured the Khairan and Nawaf Al Ahmad labour city sites with a visiting Chinese technical delegation.
According to project details, Khairan Labour City will cover 135 sq km and accommodate 60,000 residential units, while Nawaf Al Ahmad will span 125 sq km with 55,000 units.
Earlier this year, consultancy tenders were launched for all three developments, which aim to support Kuwait’s housing demand, improve living conditions for workers, and bolster economic growth.
The inspection follows Kuwait’s announcement in July that it would receive four delegations from major Chinese state-owned enterprises to explore investment opportunities in sectors including infrastructure and logistics.
The visit included coordination meetings with representatives from two Chinese firms, focusing on technical cooperation and the application of global best practices in urban planning and infrastructure design.
Officials say these labour city projects align with Kuwait’s long-term vision for sustainable urban development, enhancing capacity while integrating modern amenities and services to meet future population needs.
