Kazakhstan hosts global summit on women’s leadership
Astana summit highlights rising global role of women in business, tech, and rural economies, with focus on SDGs and international cooperation
ASTANA, Kazakhstan (MNTV) — Women leaders from international corporations, governments, and civil society convened in Kazakhstan’s capital this week to discuss their growing role in shaping global development, business, and technology.
The Global Businesswomen Council meeting drew participants from across the world to explore how women are driving change in key sectors. According to Silk Way TV, discussions centered on social investment, digital innovation, and the importance of cross-border collaboration to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speakers highlighted how women are increasingly influencing rural economies, technological transformation, and inclusive policy making. The event emphasized the need for stronger support systems to ensure women are not only represented but leading in global economic and social shifts.
One of the main outcomes was the signing of a memorandum and several cooperation agreements focused on advancing education, healthcare, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Organizers described the move as a practical step toward accelerating gender equality through strategic investment.
“It’s essential that states continue promoting social responsibility, especially as women’s roles in leadership expand worldwide,” said participant Kirsty Wilson. “This is a global issue — not just for Kazakhstan.”
Kazakh voices also played a key role in the forum. Zhamilya Ernazarova, one of the local participants, said the platform allows for meaningful exchange between national and international experts. “It’s about sharing strategies to support women in business and beyond, especially young women looking to lead,” she said.
Kazakhstan has sought to position itself as a regional hub for dialogue on gender equity and innovation. While structural challenges persist — including wage gaps and access to leadership roles — events like this signal a growing commitment to inclusion and sustainable progress.
