Israel kills 33 Palestinians amid Gaza ceasefire
Wave of attacks hits shelters and homes, leaving mostly women and children dead
GAZA STRIP, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli airstrikes across Gaza killed at least 33 Palestinians over a 12-hour period, hospital officials said, marking one of the deadliest waves of attacks since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire began.
Medical teams reported that most of the victims were women and children sheltering in tents or inside residential buildings.
In southern Khan Younis, four strikes targeted tents housing displaced families late Wednesday and early Thursday, killing 17 people.
Doctors at Nasser Hospital confirmed that five women and five children were among the dead, and said dozens of others were wounded as the blasts ripped through overcrowded encampments.
In Gaza City, two Israeli strikes on a residential building killed 16 people, including seven children and three women, according to officials at Al-Shifa Hospital.
Civil defense crews said entire families were trapped under rubble as rescue operations continued through the night.
Hamas condemned the attacks as a “shocking massacre,” saying that Israel is violating the ceasefire and intensifying assaults on civilians.
The Israeli military said it had targeted Hamas fighters but did not provide additional details about the reported casualties.
The renewed attacks triggered fresh anger among displaced Palestinians, many of whom say the ceasefire has not stopped the violence.
Residents in al-Mawasi described ongoing shelling, daily deaths, and a worsening humanitarian situation as supplies remain blocked and cities lie in ruins.
The United Nations also voiced alarm, calling the situation “deeply concerning” and warning that the ceasefire remains extremely fragile.
A spokesperson for the UN secretary-general said, “People are getting killed — Palestinians are getting killed — and that needs to stop,” urging immediate steps to protect civilians and expand relief operations.
